Trento is an Italian city located in the Adige river valley. It is the capital of the region and of the autonomous province of Trento. It is only about 2 hours away from the Austrian border; thus Trento is culturally Italian with a hint of Austrian.

The township of Trento is geographically very large and encompasses the town center as well as many suburbs (from the industrial suburb of Gardolo, just north of the city, to tiny mountain hamlets on the Monte Bondone).
The town proper only has about 56,000 inhabitants, but the population of the entire township is about 110,000.
Trento offers its visitors a rich historic and artistic heritage, which can be discovered by a walk through the streets of the historical center or by a visit to the numerous civic museums with its precious collections and exhibitions.
