Minor adjustments have been made to the program of PAC09 as compared with PAC07. There has been a small reduction in the total number of hours of talks. With that concession, there is one half hour each morning and afternoon where the poster sessions are not in competition with the oral sessions.

Another change to the program is a slight increase given to the number of hours of the "Accelerator Technology - Main Systems" oral session, albeit at the expense of minor reductions in the number of hours given to other sessions. Without de-emphasizing the energy and intensity "frontier", this adjustment of alloted hours allows to recognize the engineering infrastructure which is the foundation of our endeavours.

We have also continued the tradition begun at PAC07 of having a dedicated industrial session, but this time with the theme of security and environment.

Within the confines of that framework, the Scientific Program Committee has worked hard to bring you the most scientifically interesting and up-to-date line up of talks that could be devised. I know that you will be enthralled and captivated by what the PAC09 program has to offer.
