Comments from C12 on Conferences Proposed for IUPAP Sponsorship
At its 2006 annual general meeting on June 20th in Vancouver , Canada , Commission C12 discussed the subsequent conference proposals and made the following recommendations:
2007

INPC2007
International Nuclear Physics Conference in Tokyo

  • Early approval (Cape Town 2005); update on preparations quite positive.
BARYONS2007
The 11 th International Baryons Conference
  • 200-300 participants expected; strongly supported by Korea ; recommended as a category C conference, but C12 asks IUPAP for travel support, as an exception for this more topical conference.
MENU2007
11 th International Conference in Meson-Nucleon Physics and the Structure of Hadrons
  • 350 participants expected.
  • Physics motivation sound while logistics (plenary and parallel session rooms should be close to each other) needs to be worked out by considering, for example, Aachen Technical University .
  • Recommended as a category B conference.
WONP2007
The XI International Workshop on Nuclear Physics
  • Not eligible since annual conferences cannot receive sponsorship from IUPAP; still, C12 is supportive of this effort in Havana , Cuba .
  • Concerns about visa restrictions: check for previous experiences with conferences in Cuba .
2008
PANIC2008
18 th Particle and Nuclei International Conference
  • 600 participants expected.
  • Advisory committee should constitute a fair representation of international activities in the field.
  • Ask a status report at the next C12 meeting during INPC2007.
  • Recommended as a category A conference.
LINAC2008
Linac Accelerator Conference 2008
  • 250-350 participants expected; combined effort is needed with other commissions; standing committee exists.
  • Maybe category B or C.
