BARYONS07 International Conference

June 11-15 2007

Seoul National University, Seoul, KOREA

The 11th International Conference on the Structure of Baryons (BARYONS07) has been held from June 11 to 15, 2007 at Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. About 150 physicists have participated in the conference with 14 invited speakers. The topics of the conference included:

A Baryons in Medium
B Form Factors, Structure Functions and Generalized Parton Distributions
C Baryon-Baryon Interactions
D Spectroscopy
E Recent Approaches to QCD
F Astrophysics

In all, 24 plenary talks and 64 parallel presentations were given during the conference. The conference was supported by Korea Research Foundation (KRF), Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and International Union of Pure and Applied Physics(IUPAP). The generous grant from IUPAP has enabled to support 10 student participants from all over the world.

In total, 144 physicists from 17 countries have participated in the conference. Out of them, 59 are from outside of Korea. There were 18 women participants and one of them gave a plenary presentation. There were 3 physicists from developing/disadvantaged countries.

Using the combined budget, 23 participants received financial support among them, 10 were students. The total amount of financial support was 42,000 USD including 5,000 USD from IUPAP.

Due to the similar conference, INPC07 at Japan held during the previous week, there have not been many new work presented at BARYONS07 conference. But new progress in AdS/QCD has been presented during the conference with all the relevant experts from the world. This field is receiving new interest as an alternative approach to solve the Quantum Chromo-dynamics (QCD), which is the fundamental theory governing quarks and gluons.

For the next meeting, BARYONS10 in 2010, Research Center for Nuclear Physics (RCNP) of Osaka University has volunteered to host. The presentation files are available from the conference website, http://baryons07.snu.ac.kr.
