MULTI-LAYER CARBON FILM

TRIUMF scientists have developed an innovative carbon film comprising alternating layers of nano-crystalline diamond-like carbon and amorphous carbon.

Combines:
  • The mechanical strength of diamond-like carbon
  • The heat dissipation efficiency of amorphous carbon
Lasts several times longer than regular amorphous carbon, according to extensive in-house testing in high power cyclotrons

These characteristics make TRIUMF's multi-layer carbon film ideal as beam strippers. 

 

TRIUMF Facilities
The facilities at TRIUMF include:
  • A 3-Joule laser ablation system
  • A thermal evaporation chamber
These deposition systems have allowed our highly skilled team to fabricate what we believe are the best quality amorphous and diamond-like carbon thin films.

Product Details
Alternating layers of carbon film:
  • 99.999% pure amorphous carbon film
  • 99.999% pure diamond-like carbon film
Carbon films can be customized to meet your specifications:
  • Up to 100 mm x 100 mm
  • Relative layer thickness between amorphous and diamond-like carbon from 0.01 µm to 2.0 µm
  • Total thickness up to 5.0 µm
Standard dimensions are available:
  • 25 mm x 25 mm
  • 25 mm x 75 mm
  • 50 mm x 75 mm
