ATLAS Canada User Support/Grid Certificate

These are the steps you need to do before you can run jobs on the grid.

[edit] Obtain a Grid Certificate

If you already have a grid certificate, you can skip this step.

In Canada, you have to request a certificate from by filling out the form at https://thuner-grid.nic.ualberta.ca/GridCertReq/form.php


[edit] LCG Registration

(Recommend browser for this step: Firefox)

ATLAS makes use of 3 grids: LCG, OSG and NorduGrid. Canadian users should register for LCG.

Instructions for registering your grid certificates for use on LCG are on this page: http://lcg.web.cern.ch/LCG/users/registration/registration.html

Note that you will meed to use your cern email address (eg. user@cern.ch) when you enter the information.

The VO that you need to join are:

  • /atlas
  • /atlas/lcg1
  • /atlas/ca (Canadian users only)

[edit] Setup the Account

Instructions to do this are in the Workbook.

If you already have a usercert.pem and userkey.pem file, copy them to the ~/.globus directory on your computer. Note that you should set the appropriate protections: 

chmod 400 ~/.globus/userkey.pem
chmod 444 ~/.globus/usercert.pem
