[edit] Running Athena Outside CERN

(Specifically, at TRIUMF)

There is a lot of very useful information about setting up to run the ATLAS software Athena at outside institutes on the official wiki and in other places (I found this one particularly useful).

There are many ways to run Athena outside CERN:
  1. log on to lxplus and pretend you are at CERN. (works, but lxplus resources are limited and anything with an X-window is very, very slowwww...)
  2. run against a release at CERN on a machine with AFS access to CERN (mostly works for me)
  3. run against a release installed at TRIUMF from a kit (on trshare - being phased out)
  4. run against a release installed on the TRIUMF ATLAS cluster (new preferred method!)
  5. install Athena release kits locally on your own machine and run against them
  6. use the GRID

How to Set up CVS access (prerequisite for checking out packages if you run locally)
