High Voltage Status Page

The web status page for the CAEN high voltage crates in the data shack can be found here.

There are a series of columns, one for each of the high voltage crates currently being monitored by the page. Each of these columns will operate independently of one another (so if you decided to select another view for a crate, the others will not be changed). Under the name of each crate is a drop down menu that will allow you to select different views for each of the crates (all of the channels, channels currently used for BGOs, etc). Hitting "Refresh" will update the status of the channels currently selected or change the view if you have change the selected view from the drop down menu. "Reset" only needs to be pressed if you have changed a setting in the properties.xml file.

[edit] Editing The Properties File

All of the page's properties are modifiable through an XML file entitles "properties.xml". This file is can be found at ~gg/public_html/hv/properties.xml. There are 6 different property groups in the file:

  • Statuses
  • Viewed Headings
  • Viewed Crates
  • Currently Used Channels
  • Currently Used Germanium Channels
  • Currently Used BGO Channels

The statuses are each of one of 12 bits sent by the CAEN library giving the status of that channel. The property contains the bit number of that status, the status' title, the color to be displayed for that status on the page and the status' rank. The rank is simple the precedence that that status will take in displaying its color on the page (the lower the rank, the higher the priority). All statuses should be contained in the <statuses> node of the XML file and should have the syntax:

 <status>
   <bit>BIT NUMBER</bit>
   <name>STATUS TITLE</name>
   <color>#FFFFFF</color>  (where #FFFFFF is a hex color)
   <rank>RANK NUMBER</rank>
 </status>

The viewed headings are the names of all the parameters that should be shown in the status page (VMon, IMon, etc). These heading titles must be the EXACT same ones as can be seen by telneting into the crates (so Vmon will just show nothing). The viewed headings should be placed in the <view> node and should have the syntax:

 <heading>HEADING NAME</heading>

The viewed crates are the name of the crates currently being shown in the status page (ie. tighv00, tighv01, tighv02). The crates should be places in the <crates> node and should have the syntax:

 <crate>CRATE NAME</crate>

The currently used channels are the channels that you want to be seen when you select "View all used channels". They should be identified by the name assigned to them on the crates (such as 5-BGO or 14-Blue-4.0). They should be placed in the <channels> node and should have the syntax:

 <channel>CHANNEL NAME</channel>

The currently used Germanium channels are the channels you want to be seen when you select "View only used Germanium channels" and follow the same name rules as for the used channels but should be placed in the <germaniums> node and have the syntax:

 <germanium>CHANNEL NAME</germanium>

The currently used BGO channels are the channels you want to be seen when you select "View only used BGO channels" and follow the same name rules as for the used channels but should be placed in the <bgos> node and have the syntax:

 <bgo>CHANNEL NAME</bgo>
